Whether you like her or not, Taylor Swift has a very successful business empire! Her concerts sell out very quickly, her albums break records, and it seems that everything she does is a well-thought-out strategy to grow her business!
Here’s a couple of business lessons entrepreneurs can learn from her:
1. Make data-based decisions – Taylor Swift tracks every single ticket sale and knows exactly where her money is coming from and going to! Too often business owners don’t have a handle on their key metrics – whether it’s the ROI on their marketing, sales conversion rates, or profitability.
Do you know your customer cost of acquisition; your sales conversion rates; your profitability for each offer?
2. Have a strategic plan – It’s clear that Taylor doesn’t just wing it – her tours aren’t spontaneous and new album and merchandise releases are intentional – there’s a specific roadmap for launching new offers and everything her business does. It’s quite clear that Taylor’s marketing is very strategic.
As a business owner, ask yourself whether you are taking time out from your daily and weekly business activities to plan your revenue-generating activities or are you just being reactive to customer or market situations? Do you have a clear marketing plan that works for you? That’s rinse and repeat?
Successful business owners have strategic plans that they adjust every 90 days. They double down on what’s working and let go of those things that aren’t!
3. Maximize profitability – From ticket pricing to exclusive packages, it’s all meant to boost profits in her business. Are you clear on which offers are your most profitable? Here’s a little tough love — If you aren’t making a profit, you don’t have a business, you have an expensive hobby.
The big takeaway?
Business success isn’t luck or working harder – it’s about building a business with intention and getting super clear on your choices!
Are you clear (and specific) about what you want to build?
Do you have a roadmap, strategy or plan for your success?
If you do, are you constantly simplifying, measuring and optimizing that plan?
Isn’t it time to build your success plan?
