Here on the farm, with 20 acres, we don’t have to worry about how many steps we take in a day because we are constantly up and down stairs, walking from one building to another or moving around the garden.

In fact, it’s more likely that we want to SAVE steps. Needlessly having to walk from one building to another can become tiresome and annoying. For instance, if I’m gardening behind the pool and need another piece of gardening equipment, it’s a long walk back to the shed where we store equipment.  The same goes for hubby – if he is upstairs in the house trying to prepare surfaces for painting, and he needs another tool, it’s downstairs and across the lot to the shed to find what he needs.

So both of us have designed ways to save steps and time. I have a 2nd set of tools in the pool house and another at the house. Hubby has a ‘bucket’ of tools he totes with him when he is working. Our aim is to save time and steps. We plan so that we can be more efficient with our time.

It’s no different with our businesses. If we are constantly shifting from one task to another, we lose focus and we waste time. Constant interruptions in our work, not planning our days or weeks, and working on activities that don’t move our business forward can often make us feel less productive.

So how can we save time and work more efficiently?

But before we talk about becoming more efficient, let’s talk about WHY entrepreneurs have a tendency to overwork. What’s at the root of this ‘busy’ phenomenon?

In this week’s episode of Work Less PROFIT More business podcast, I’ll share with you WHY entrepreneurs are at such risk of overwork and burnout.  Believe me, there are reasons why you (and I) are so driven! In my years working with entrepreneurs, I know that you sometimes feel like you are ‘herding kittens’, ie. Just going in so many directions that nothing truly gets accomplished! Check out Episode # 154 here.  You’ll probably resonate with one or more of the reasons behind our seeming compulsion to work hard.

Then the following week – join me for a free – 5-part training series –The ULTIMATE Freedom & Focus Masterclass.  Yes, I’ll be releasing a free training to help you reclaim at least 10- 20+ hours a week – without hiring a new employee!! So mark your calendars and be sure to invite your business bestie to this free training because I know that so many could benefit from these strategies, tips and resources.

There’s also a Workbook to go along with this – download it at www.dianalidstone.com/takenotes
