Shonda Rhimes is one smart cookie! Not only has she written best-selling books but she’s the creator of blockbuster series such as Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, etc.

In her book, the Year of Yeses, she talks about how she committed to a year of saying YES to new possibilities and activities that were out of her comfort zone! It took her on an unbelievable journey. Her power word was YES!

What would your world look like if you chose a year of YESes?

  • Would you collaborate more?
  • Would you do more speaking?
  • Would it bring you closer to your revenue goal?
  • Would it bring you closer to your vision, your mission?

My guess is that for those of you who are Chief Everything Officers, business owners with tons on your plate, a year of yeses would be totally overwhelming and bring you more chaos (let me know your thoughts)!

But what about the opposite?

What would be possible if you spent a year saying NO to everything that didn’t align with your vision, mission or values?

  • More free time in your schedule as you clearly set boundaries (i.e. no working weekends or evenings)?
  • Increased productivity because you have less to do?
  • More time freedom because you’ve been very selective about which projects you take on?
  • Ability to easily hit your revenue goals because you focus your marketing and sales on attracting just your very best client while saying no to taking on clients who aren’t a perfect fit to work with you

For those of you who have too much to do and who feel like a juggler and firefighter rather than a true business leader, a year of saying NO to everything that doesn’t bring you closer to your dream life and dream business would be such an accomplishment!

It brings clarity and sanity.

It builds a business that supports your dream in ways that you never thought possible.

How do I know?

That’s the journey I’ve taken these last few years!

I knew very clearly these 3 things:

  • My vision – To work 2-3 days per week while still earning 6-figures.
  • My mission – To help end entrepreneurial burnout.
  • My values – Family, nature, simplicity, strategy and growth.

And I said NO to everything that didn’t bring me closer to accomplishing those 3 things.

What about you?

Are you so clear on your vision, mission and values that you could spend a year saying NO to everything that didn’t bring you closer to achieving them?

The ability to easily say NO creates boundaries for your life and business. It allows you to build a business that supports your dream life while actually having the time and freedom to live that life!

The act of saying NO brings you freedom!

Being rich means having money; being wealthy means having the time!

What else could you do to save you time and bring you closer to the freedom you desire?

If you’ve been listening to Work Less PROFIT More business podcast for the last few weeks, you’ll have already learned:

  • How to build a business with purpose and intention so you get more freedom
  • Which activities to focus on in your business that will generate revenue and freedom
  • How to build a team to support you and what you need BEFORE a team.

This week in episode #158, I share 5 productivity tips to help you regain your sanity and reclaim your freedom (and one of them is saying NO more often).  While the other 4 productivity tips are simple and not rocket science, I’m still amazed at how many entrepreneurs don’t implement them!

Let me know which of the 5 productivity tips you will implement so you can work less, profit more!

In next week’s podcast episode, I’ll share just how much time EACH of these strategies saves you!  And the total hours saved might shock you!

YOU CAN DO THIS!

P.S. What would you do with an extra 4, 10 or 20 hours per week

I know …. It probably seems totally impossible that you or any business owner could free up 4 to 20 hours per week in their schedule!

But if you could free up that time, what would you do?

  • Go to the gym consistently?
  • Treat yourself to a spa day, mani-pedi?
  • Enjoy family time together?
  • Work ON your business & do some big picture planning?

But currently, you are totally MAXXED out and working less hours doesn’t seem possible.

There are 2 reasons that this continues to happen:

  1. you believe that you are the only one in your business that can do the things one your To-Do List;
  1. you are reluctant to set specific time in your calendar to do deep FOCUSED work and strategic planning

If you’re ready to go from Overwhelmed Chief Everything Officer to Overjoyed CEO, then it’s time to schedule a Business Breakthrough Session with Diana.

During this call, Diana will ask you a few key questions to pinpoint the gaps business – and then I’ll show you can free up an extra 4, 10 or 20 hours per week, while still earning a good profit.
