Perhaps it sounds too good to be true; however, there is ONE marketing tactic that has consistently added $100K to my income each and every year for the last 3 years!

Yup –  speaking!

It certainly didn’t start out that way!

And if you’re like I was a few years ago, you’re probably thinking

  • But I could never speak to get clients, who would listen
  • But I’ve never done any speaking before
  • But Diana, you host your own events, I couldn’t do that
  • But I don’t feel that I have anything new to say
  • But …. (fill in the blank) ______________________

I totally understand.  My itty bitty shitty committee YELLED all of those things to me back in 2015!!!  And, if you ask anyone who attended my first couple of events – they would tell you that they were …. Well, should I say – I’ve come along way!

If you NEVER start – you’ll never grow!

However, before you decide to go out speaking to get more clients, raise your reputation and make a bigger impact – there are a couple of things you need….

1.     know and own your EXPERT ADVANTAGE – in other words,  you need to be positioned and be able to communicate clearly & succinctly what you do and who you do it for so that you’re turning interested prospects into excited clients (sounds easy, right?)

2.     a signature or core offering (product, service or program) that you sell  (or why are you speaking?)

When you have these 2 critical elements in place, then it’s time to start putting together the rest of your roadmap:

3.     Craft your “Talk that Converts’ because not all talks are created equal.  Perhaps you’re like many clients who come to me telling me stories about how they’ve held workshops or webinars or given talks …. However, it didn’t made them any money.  That’s what I call giving a talk for compliments and not clients!!!  Which would you rather have?

4.     You’ll need a system (yes a repeatable, system) for capturing leads and a way to cultivate those prospects into clients!  Sounds scary – not really.  With just a little brainstorming and expert insight, capturing & cultivating can be simplified.

5.     Next you’ll have to get out there and become VISIBLE!!  You’ll have to decide which type of speaking is for you and how you want to show up – whether it’s on live stages, podcasts, webinars, FB lives, video, keynotes or breakout sessions AND what are your goals for your speaking?

6.     The last key element is CONVERT.  How will you convert those prospects you’ve spoken to into clients excited to purchase your signature program, product or service.  It’s about having another system – a sales system – a repeatable system that you tweak and tweak until you convert!!!

7.     Then it’s all about starting the process all over again or RINSE & REPEAT.
