Apparently today most people are exposed to between 3,000 to 30,000 commercial messages PER DAY!  Between social media, our email inboxes, text messaging and commercials on television – there is a non-stop barrage of messages ‘selling’ something!

So how do you stand out?

How do you capture the attention of your dream client?

The best way is to do something that others in your industry aren’t doing.

What am I talking about?  No, it’s not message bots; Facebook Lives or anything like it.

Let me ask you a question…. When was the last time you went to the mailbox and saw a special colored envelope with your name on it?  (And it wasn’t from Revenue Canada or junk mail).

How did it make you feel to see that envelope?   Did you feel curious?  Of course!

Did you feel special?  Of course!

Did you think WHY is this person sending me mail?  Yup!

Did you immediately have soft fuzzy feelings for this person?  You bet!

So how do you think your client (strategic partner, supplier, etc.) would feel if they saw a special color envelope addressed personally to them, and with your return address?

That’s the power of a handwritten note that you send!  It makes people feel special.

Former GE Chairman Jack Welch and former Campbell Soup Co. CEO Doug Conant are two famous examples of leaders who often sent their employees handwritten notes. Both men were prolific note writers to their staffs.

Now I’ll admit – I used to send out notes like this ALL THE TIME.  But somehow, I got away from the habit!  It’s all it is …. a habit.  After all, the investment is only a few minutes a day, plus the cost of a stamp and I guarantee you’ll get a high return on your investment!

So, if you’re anything like most of my clients who want to stand out in a noisy and competitive marketing place, you might want to consider adding handwritten notes as part of your marketing master plan.  I’m going to!  Starting today!

You can do this!
